Reginald Burns, 44

Reginald Burns, a 44-year-old black man, was fatally shot Monday, April 16, in the 1100 block of West 45th Street in Vermont Square, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Burns was on a porch with some friends at 8:18 p.m. when an unknown person walked up and fired several times, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

Paramedics were called and the victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:51 p.m.

Coroner's records show Burns died from a gunshot wound to the right thigh.

Winter said there have been no arrests been made in connection with the case.
