Cuong Nhat Do, a 44-year-old Vietnamese man, was shot and killed Friday, Jan. 24 in the 400 block of North Second Street in Alhambra, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s records.
Police received a call of shots fired at an apartment about 7:15 p.m. and arrived to find two people, Do, and his wife Camha Nguyen Do, 38, who had been shot, according to a news release from the Alhambra Police Department.
Do and his wife were pronounced dead at the scene at 7:26 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Their 4-year-old child was present when the killings occurred, but she was not wounded, prosecutors said.
A couple of blocks away, another officer who was en route to the scene was flagged down by a man who confessed to the shooting, police said.

Jue Wang, a 37-year-old Asian man, was fatally shot on Saturday, Dec. 14, in the 900 block of West Ramona Road in Alhambra, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Alhambra police officers were called to the scene shortly after 8 p.m. regarding a suspicious vehicle, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Brandon Dean. The car was parked in a residential neighborhood that runs parallel to the 10 Freeway, just east of the South Atlantic Boulevard exit.
When officers arrived, they found Wang sitting in the driver's seat of the car with a gunshot wound in the upper torso, Dean said.
Wang was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:01 p.m., according to coroner's records. The cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound.
Investigators don't know why Wang was in the neighborhood. He lived in Palmdale and no one on the street knew who he was, Dean said. …
Joseph Gilbert Solano, a 50-year-old Latino deputy for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, died Wednesday, June 12, after he was shot in the 2500 block of West Valley Boulevard in Alhambra, according to sheriff's investigators.
Solano got off work about 5 p.m. Monday, June 10, put on his civilian clothes and then ran an errand for his mother, taking her car to a Jiffy Lube to get the oil changed, The Times reported.
Solano went next door to a Jack in the Box restaurant at 2531 West Valley Blvd., and was waiting for his food when a man wearing sunglasses and a fedora walked up behind him about 5:45 p.m.

Yining Xie, a 58-year-old man of Chinese descent, was fatally shot on Friday, Nov. 16, at the China Press, 2121 West Mission Road in Alhambra, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
The Alhambra Police received a call around 9:38 a.m. that Xie, chairman and founder of the daily China Press or Qiao Bao (Overseas Chinese Press) newspaper in Alhambra, had been shot in his office.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:40 a.m., according to coroner’s records. The cause of death was listed as gunshot wounds to the head and torso.
Investigators believe the shooting was motivated by a workplace dispute between Xie and one of the paper's employees, Zhong Qi Chen, 59, a Chinese national who lives in El Monte, said Sgt. Steve Carr.

Jinguo Jiang, a 55-year-old Chinese man, was beaten to death on Thursday, Jan. 25, in the 1200 block of South Sierra Vista Avenue in Alhambra, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Alhambra police officers were called about 4:40 p.m. after a body was found in the backyard of a rooming house, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department news release.
The property included a house and garage that had been divided into 11 bedrooms and rented out, according to the release.
The initial report indicated the victim was a woman, but the body turned out to be Jiang’s. He was found face-down with his body crammed between a concrete step and a water heater, The Times reported. It was difficult to see his face, which was bloodied and covered with cardboard.
Jiang was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:10 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Xiuxia “Michelle” Chen, a 44-year-old Chinese woman, was shot and killed on Friday, July 2, in the 2700 block of Valley Boulevard in Alhambra, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Chen, a mother of two, was the manager of the Ambassador Inn hotel at 2720 Valley Blvd., where she worked from 3:30 to 11:30 p.m., said her husband, Armando Escandor.
A man came into the hotel office about 11 p.m. and tried to rob her, shooting her at least once in the torso, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department news release.
A co-worker found Chen on the ground bleeding and called 911. Chen was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:34 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Moon Young Cheung, a 78-year-old Chinese woman, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, after she was strangled in the 1800 block of West Garvey Avenue in Alhambra, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Alhambra police officers were called about 12:42 p.m. regarding a woman lying on the ground outside her apartment, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Troy Ewing. The woman was later identified as Cheung, who lived in the apartment with her adult daughter.
Cheung’s daughter told investigators that she was sleeping when her mother went out on her regular morning walk. When she woke up, she said, her mother wasn’t in the apartment.
About 12:30 p.m., a man knocked on her door and pointed to her mother lying on the ground outside, Ewing said. When the daughter ran to check on her mother, the man at the door darted inside and locked the door, Ewing said.

Eduardo Fernandez, a 25-year-old Latino, was killed by police officers Friday, Jan. 27, in the 2900 block of West Main Street in Alhambra, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Alhambra police officers were called about 7:25 p.m. Fernandez’s mother told 911 that Fernandez was fighting with his parents and possibly had a gun, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Jauch.
As the officers drove to the residence, they heard gunfire, Jauch said. Fernandez was firing a gun outside the house, Jauch said, “but we believe he was firing into the air; nobody was hit.”
When the officers arrived, Fernandez fired at the officers, Jauch said. Two officers shot back, striking Fernandez multiple times.
Fernandez was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:05 p.m. with multiple gunshot wounds, according to coroner’s records. No one else was injured.

Tyrone David Lopez, a 40-year-old Latino, was shot to death Saturday, Jan. 7, in the 2800 block of West Alhambra Road in Alhambra, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 6:15 p.m., Alhambra police were called about an injured man, Sgt. Jerry Johnson said. Officers found Lopez with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at 6:36 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
After a preliminary investigation, suicide was ruled out. No suspects have been identified, Johnson said.

Carlos Cabrera, a 52-year-old Latino male, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, after sustaining blunt force trauma in Alhambra, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Qui Jin Fang, a 43-year-old Asian man, was shot and killed Sunday, Sept. 22, in the 300 block of North Monterey Street in Alhambra, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.
Fang was found with gunshot wounds to his upper body shortly after 10:30 p.m. in a parked vehicle in a garage, according to a news release from the Alhambra Police Department.
Witnesses heard shots and reported seeing an Asian man leaving the area in a white Mercedes-Benz, according to the news release.
Fang was pronounced dead at 11:05 p.m. at the scene, said coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter.
Police found a loaded handgun near the scene and stopped the Mercedes, the department said.
There were two men and one woman inside the car, all of whom were arrested on suspicion of murder. Police did not immediately release their names.
