Jose Antonio De Santiago-Medina, a 59-year-old Latino male, died Thursday, June 6, after being shot in Atwater Village, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.

Geoff Garland, a 40-year-old white male, died Sunday, Nov. 11, after being shot near the 3100 block of Glenmanor Place in Atwater Village, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.

Bryan Rodriguez, a 26-year-old Latino male, died Saturday, Oct. 6, after being shot in Atwater Village, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.

Constance Amy Mangam, a 66-year-old white female, died Tuesday, July 10, after being stabbed in Atwater Village, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.

Sevak Ghazarian, a 32-year-old Armenian man, was fatally shot Saturday, Sept. 10, near Glendale Boulevard and Revere Avenue in Atwater Village, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

About 10:30 p.m., Ghazarian was walking in the area when he was shot, according to police. Police responded to a shooting at 10:45 p.m. and found paramedics treating Ghazarian, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Ghazarian was pronounced dead at 11:20 p.m., according to coroner's records. It's unclear whether the attacker walked up to Ghazarian or if a car was involved, said LAPD Det. Lisa Governo in an e-mail.

Carlos Joseph Wilhelm, a 39-year-old Latino, was shot and killed by police officers Wednesday, Sept. 16, in the 4100 block of Willimet Street in Atwater Village, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.  

The incident began shortly after noon when Los Angeles police received reports about gunfire in the home where Wilhelm had lived with his aunt, Lorraine Gonzalez, and her elderly parents, according to the Los Feliz Ledger.

As officers and paramedics approached the house, an officer flying in a helicopter overhead spotted a man with a rifle outside, according to The Times. The man was later identified as Wilhelm.

The officers then “tactically deployed” around the house so they could evaluate any potential threats from Wilhelm and act as quickly as possible to help anyone who had been shot, LAPD Lt. John Jenal told The Times.

Lorraine Gonzalez, a 55-year-old Latina, was shot and killed in her home Wednesday, Sept. 16, in the 4100 block of Willimet in Atwater Village, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Paramedics and Los Angeles police officers went to Gonzalez’s home about 12:20 p.m. after receiving reports about gunshots in the area, The Times reported. 

An officer flying in a helicopter over the house spotted a man with a rifle, later identified as Gonzalez’s nephew, Carlos Joseph Wilhelm, and warned officers on the ground, who eventually shot Wilhelm.

Wilhelm, a 39-year-old Latino, was taken to the hospital, according to coroner’s records. The Times reported that he was pronounced dead around midnight.

Gonzalez was found inside the house with gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:45 p.m.

Joey Romo, a 19-year-old Latino male, died after being shot multiple times in the 2900 block of Glenmanor Place, in Atwater Village, according to the coroner’s office.

Romo was standing in front of his house when the incident occurred.

The shooter was a man between 5 feet 6 and 5 feet 8, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, said Karen Smith of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Juan Correa, a 24-year-old Latino, was shot multiple times and collapsed Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, in the 3000 block of West Silver Lake Boulevard in Atwater Village, according to authorities.

Los Angeles police found Correa on the ground and wounded about 5:45 p.m. He was taken to County-USC Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

Steven Scott Farrell, 20, a white man, died from a gunshot wound at County-USC Medical Center at 9:18 p.m. Monday, June 9, the L.A. County coroner's office reported.

Farrell was shot near Perlita and Veselich avenues in Atwater Village about 7:45 p.m. Saturday, June 7. According to Det. Jose Carillo of the LAPD's Northeast Division, Farrell was a documented gang member and was driving in rival gang territory with a friend. Carillo said rival gang members chased after Farrell, and when they caught up to his car they began shooting. Carillo said Farrell was struck in the head and crashed into a parked car.

Farrell was taken to County-USC Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead that Saturday. However, doctors were able to revive him, Carillo said. As a result, Farrell was incorrectly listed as one of several homicides that occurred in areas under LAPD's jurisdiction for the weekend of …

Steve Garcia, 26, a Latino man, was shot and killed while sitting inside his car at 2791 Carillon St. in Atwater Village about 2:43 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15.

According to police, Garcia and a woman were sitting inside the car when at least one assailant approached the vehicle and fired several shots. Garcia was hit multiple times and the woman was hit in the arm, said Officer Richard French of LAPD's media relations office.

Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was hospitalized and in stable condition, French said. The assailants may have fled in a Toyota Corolla, police said.

Michael Rodriguez, 18, a Latino youth, was shot 17 times at close range in the L.A. River just south of the Colorado Street overpass on the I-5 Freeway in Atwater Village at about 10 p.m. Saturday night, April 21.

His body, which was found lying about a foot from the moving water, was spotted by two joggers early Sunday morning. Detectives learned that people in the area had heard the gunshots the previous night, but no one had called police.
