Andrew Edward Gallegos, a 30-year-old Latino, was fatally shot on Thursday, Jan. 24, in the 13200 block of Valley Boulevard in the Bassett area just east of El Monte, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.
Gallegos and another man were standing on the sidewalk in front of the Bliss Showgirls strip club around 2:20 a.m. when a man described only as a Latino pulled his car up alongside them, got out and began shooting, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Scott Hoglund.
The gunfire struck Gallegos in the head and he fell to the sidewalk, according to coroner's records. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:32 a.m., according to coroner's records.
The other man, later identified by family members as Gallegos' cousin, was not injured and remained at the scene, Hoglund said, but he couldn't provide many details about the shooter or his vehicle.
Jeremy Sanchez, a 17-year-old Latino male, died Wednesday, April 18, after being stabbed in Avocado Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Dominick Gonzales, a 38-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, April 19, in the 13100 block of Valley Boulevard in Bassett, an unincorporated community in the San Gabriel Valley, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
The shooting occurred at the El Jalisco Café, where Gonzales and three other men were having dinner, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza.
The four men appeared to have a normal meal, according to witnesses, and had just walked outside near a patio of diners when gunfire erupted, Mendoza said.
“We know there were at least two shooters in that group,” Mendoza said, “but as soon as the shooting started, everybody put their heads down, so we haven’t been able to confirm who was shooting.”

Ruben Victor Zermeno, a 56-year-old Latino, was killed Wednesday, June 18, in the 13900 block of Valley Boulevard in Avocado Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Workers in the area found Zermeno’s body near a trash bin in a driveway shortly before 6 a.m. and called authorities, said Det. Karen Shonka with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Zermeno was pronounced dead at 5:56 a.m., said Ed Winter, a spokesman with the coroner’s office. An autopsy showed that Zermeno died of blunt force trauma, Winter said.
A witness linked Marco Antonio Villanueva, a 36-year-old Latino, to the beating, and he was arrested on suspicion of murder the same day. Zermeno and Villanueva were transients in the area who had known each other for a couple days, Shonka said.

Adam Moran, a 53-year-old Latino male, died Monday, Aug. 29, in Avocado Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Michael Gudiel, a 24-year-old Latino, was shot and died June 21 in front of 13916 Proctor Avenue in the Avocado Heights area of unincorporated Los Angeles County, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
The Pasadena Star-News reported that Gudiel was shot about 3:15 a.m. in a drive-by attack that police are calling gang-related.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene and found Gudiel lying in the street with a gunshot wound. His sister told the Star-News that he had been walking home alone when the incident happened.
Oscar Torres, a 38-year-old Latino man, died in a shooting in the 2200 block of Mardel Avenue at 6:50 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5.
Authorities were asking for the public’s help in finding the gunman, who also critically wounded another man, said Deputy Oscar Butao of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The victims were involved in an argument with a man who produced a gun and shot them both several times, Butao said. Torres was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other man was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The suspect fled in a dark-colored vehicle.

Richard Casillas, a 43-year-old Latino man, was found stabbed to death inside his trailer home at 13837 Proctor St. in Bassett about 8:38 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 3.
Casillas was declared dead at the scene, authorities said. Detectives with the sheriff's homicide bureau are investigating.
