Sandra Marlene Dandasnavarro, a 34-year-old Latina, was fatally shot on Sunday, Dec. 16, in the 5100 block of Live Oak Street in Cudahy, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Dandasnavarro operated a day care in the home she shared with her boyfriend, 8-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Derrick Alfred.
She and the children were home alone around 11 a.m. when her former boyfriend, Ramon Ramirez Gomez, 31, allegedly came to the house with a gun, looking for her current boyfriend, Alfred said.
"When he couldn't find the boyfriend, he shot and killed his ex-girlfriend inside the home, right in front of her two kids," Alfred said.
The son grabbed his sister and ran out of the house, Alfred said. A passerby noticed the boy running with the toddler in his arms and asked what was wrong.

Mario Montoya, a 38-year-old Latino, was fatally shot on Saturday, June 30, in the 4200 block of Live Oak Street in Cudahy, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Montoya was walking on Live Oak Street near his home in Bell when the shooting occurred, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Derrick Alfred.
Deputies were called to the area at 11:17 p.m. regarding a gunshot victim and found Montoya lying on the sidewalk, Alfred said.
Montoya was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:47 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Investigators don’t have a description of the suspect, or whether the shooter was on foot or in a vehicle. Residents reported hearing the gunfire, but no one reported seeing the actual shooting, Alfred said.
Montoya’s stepsister, Denise Gonzalez, has started a fundraising page to help his family with funeral expenses.

Edgar Aurelio Velasquez, a 26-year-old Latino male, died Monday, Aug. 15, after sustaining blunt force trauma in Cudahy, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Margarita Rosas, a 34-year-old Latina, was fatally shot Wednesday, July 6, in the 5000 block of Elizabeth Street in Cudahy, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Rosas was sitting in the driver’s seat of her car with a co-worker outside his home about 2:30 a.m. when someone fired several rounds into the vehicle, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Bill Cotter.
The shots were fired from the driver's side window, Cotter said. Rosas was struck in the upper torso and the coworker, a 26-year-old man, was shot in the lower body.
Both were taken to the hospital, Cotter said, but Rosas was pronounced dead at 3:02 a.m. The man is expected to survive his injuries.
Cotter said the two worked at a warehouse. He said investigators don't know if the two had been working prior to the shooting.

Jesus Javier Paez, a 22-year-old Latino, died Monday, May 9, after he was shot in the 4300 block of Clara Street in Cudahy, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies were called to the residential area about 2 p.m. regarding a gunshot victim on the front porch of a home, said Lt. Steve Jauch.
When deputies arrived, they found Paez sitting in a patio chair with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:23 p.m., according to coroner's records.
Paez did not have a known address, Jauch said, but he knew people who lived in the area. He said he couldn't comment further on who Paez was visiting. Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting.

Alfonso Ortiz, a 34-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, Jan. 21 in the 8000 block of Wilcox Avenue in Cudahy, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 10 p.m., Ortiz was walking through the parking lot of a laundromat when a silver sedan drove up and a passenger got out of the front seat of the car and shot him, said Det. Troy Ewing of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The car then fled west on Santa Ana Street.
Ortiz was pronounced dead at 10:05 p.m. in the parking lot, according to coroner’s records.
