Fabian Acevedo, a 26-year-old Latino, was shot and killed on Sunday, Oct. 15, in the 1300 block of South Atlantic Boulevard in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene regarding a gunshot victim at 6:36 p.m., Lt. Rodney Moore said. They found Acevedo lying in an alley parking lot behind businesses and residences on the block, Moore said.
Acevedo was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:13 p.m., according to coroner’s records. He lived with his mother in Montebello.
Investigators think Acevedo “was just minding his own business, walking down an alley” when he was shot, Sgt. Troy Ewing said.
Investigators do not have any eyewitness accounts of the shooting, but after reviewing surveillance camera footage and getting a tip, Ewing said they arrested two suspects Nov. 3 in connection with the attack.

Miguel Cabrera, a 19-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, Sept. 17, in the 4100 block of Floral Drive in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Cabrera was at a family party around 2 a.m. when he and his father, who were standing in front of the residence, got into an argument with at least two other Latino adults, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza said.
The argument became physical, and one of the other Latinos pulled a gun and fired, striking both father and son. The suspects then got into a vehicle and fled west on Floral Drive.
Cabrera and his father were taken to a hospital, where Cabrera was pronounced dead at 2:53 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
His father is expected to survive his injuries, Mendoza said.

Angel Murillo, a 23-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Tuesday, Aug. 1, in the 3600 block of Floral Drive in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Investigators aren't releasing many details about Murillo’s death “because the investigation is still evolving,” said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Rodney Moore.
Murillo, a self-described community volunteer from South El Monte, went to a home in the 3600 block of Floral Drive sometime before 8:30 a.m. Aug. 1.
At 8:32 a.m., deputies received a call regarding shots fired at the address. When they arrived, they found three men in their 20s running out of the home.
One of the men had a cut on his face. Another had a gunshot wound to his left arm and the third was uninjured, Moore said.
The men told investigators that Murillo entered the home with a rifle and a hatchet, Moore said. A struggle …
Francisco Amaro Jr., a 30-year-old Latino, was shot and killed on Monday, April 10, in the 6600 block of Hereford Drive in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before he was shot, Amaro had been inside the home he shared with his parents and siblings, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza. Amaro got into a brief argument with some family members and left the house on foot, Mendoza said.
Moments later, at 8:36 p.m., residents heard a gunshot to the west of Amaro’s home and found him lying on the sidewalk two houses away.
Amaro was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:45 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Investigators don’t have any suspect information or a motive for the shooting, Mendoza said.

Juan Carlos Gomez, a 32-year-old Latino, died on Wednesday, March 8, after he was shot at the corner of Blanchard Street and Geraghty Avenue in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Gomez was sitting in a parked car shortly after 4 p.m. when he exchanged angry words with a man who was walking by, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Marcelo Quintero.
The man, described as a younger-looking Latino, pulled out a gun and fired multiple rounds into Gomez’s car, Quintero said.
Gomez drove away heading west on Blanchard, but crashed into a retaining wall at North Gage Avenue, about two blocks away, Quintero said.
Deputies found Gomez lying on the sidewalk outside his car with gunshot wounds, Quintero said. Gomez was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:32 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Roy Roger Torres, a 47-year-old Latino, died Monday, Feb. 20, after he was shot in the 1400 block of Volney Drive in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Torres moved into the garage outside his family home two years earlier to help care for his ailing father, family member Gina Gomez told The Times.
Investigators have released few details about the shooting, but they believe Torres’ cousin, Christopher Michael Mejia, 26, shot him in the garage sometime during the night or early morning of Feb. 20, and then stole his car, a Dodge sedan, which had been parked outside, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Bill Cotter.
Torres was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:29 a.m., according to coroner’s records. Police believe Mejia shot two Whittier Police Department officers, killing one, about two and a half hours later.

Joanthony Rodriguez, a 16-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, Jan. 8, in the 3800 block of Whittier Boulevard in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County authorities.
Deputies went to an apartment building near Indiana Street and Whittier Boulevard about 2:20 a.m. to answer a report about gunshots, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Jauch.
Deputies followed a bloody trail on the sidewalk into a nearby apartment building, Jauch said. There, they found Rodriguez lying in a stairwell, with gunshot wounds to the upper body.
Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene, according to coroner’s records.
Jauch said Rodriguez lived in another part of Los Angeles, and investigators don’t know why he was in the area. They have very little information about him, he said, and no information about a motive for the shooting or suspects.
