Anthony Ronald Palomares, a 23-year-old Latino, died a day after being shot near the intersection of Telegraph Road and Bartley Avenue in Santa Fe Springs, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
On April 5, about 6:30 p.m., Whittier police received a call about gunshots near Friendship Park, said Officer John Scoggins. When officers arrived, they found Palomares, a transient, lying in a grassy area with gunshot wounds, Scoggins said.
He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:22 p.m. on April 6, according to coroner’s records.
Witnesses told police that they saw two people approach Palomares and get into an argument. At some point, one man drew a handgun and shot Palomares, Scoggins said.
