David Peter Juarez, a 31-year-old Latino, was fatally shot on Friday, June 28, in the 100 block of North Winton Avenue in the South San Jose Hills area of La Puente, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner records.
Juarez, a resident of East Los Angeles, was walking on Winton Avenue with a 22-year-old Latino friend around 10:35 p.m., after leaving a party, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Brandon Dean.
The friend lived in the area, Dean said, and the two were walking toward a taco truck when a dark-colored sedan pulled up near them. Two men got out and began firing at Juarez and his friend, striking them both in the upper torsos. The suspects then got back in the car and drove away, heading south on Winton.
Juarez was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:49 p.m., according to coroner's records. The cause of death was listed …
Roberto Diaz, a 32-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Oct. 21, in the 18800 block of Elizondo Street in the South San Jose Hills area of the San Gabriel Valley, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Investigators have very little information about what happened the night Diaz and another man, Arthur Samuel Romero, 51, were shot and killed outside a home in the residential cul-de-sac at 7:49 p.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Derrick Alfred.
“It looks like there was a party at the house, but by the time deputies got there, everybody had left, except the decedents on the ground. ... They all just bugged out,” Alfred said.
The home's owners told investigators they had a social gathering and had heard the gunfire, but they didn’t see the shooting or what precipitated it, Alfred said.

Alan Michael Romero, a 1-year-old white baby, died Monday, Oct. 3, after he was struck in the head in the 18400 block of Hurley Street in the South San Jose Hills area of the San Gabriel Valley, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Romero’s mother, a 21-year-old white woman, took him to a hospital on Sept. 30 because he was “acting weird,” according a coroner’s records.
The toddler had multiple bruises on his body, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Marcelo Quintero, but doctors determined that his immediate problem was a brain injury. The boy was pronounced dead at 1:19 p.m. on Oct. 3. Coroner's records say the cause of death was abusive head trauma.
Investigators arrested the mother’s boyfriend, Karim Ricardo Ibarra, a 21-year-old Latino, on Oct. 1.

Johnny Mark Elizalde, a 27-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, June 11, in the 400 block of Shipman Avenue in South San Jose Hills, an unincorporated community east of Industry, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Elizalde and another man were leaving a birthday party in the residential neighborhood around 2:30 a.m. when they were confronted by a man with a handgun, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Jauch.
The gunman, described only as Latino, shot Elizalde in the upper torso and the other man in the head, shoulder and hip, Jauch said.
Elizalde was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:48 a.m., according to coroner’s records. The second man was taken to a nearby hospital where he is in critical condition, Jauch said.
After the shooting, a white SUV was seen speeding west on Northam Avenue, the nearest cross street, Jauch said.

Javier Mendez, a 35-year-old Latino, was fatally shot by a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy Thursday, Feb. 13, in the 19100 block of East Elberland Street in South San Jose Hills, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Shortly before 5 p.m., a man called the Walnut Sheriff's Station and said that a person was in his home with a gun demanding money, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Department.
Deputies arrived at the home and saw a black vehicle speeding toward them; they pursued.
Mendez got out of the vehicle near Nogales Street and La Puente Road. He then ran into a market, according to the news release. Mendez ran through the back door of the market and into several backyards. Deputies eventually found Mendez in the 19100 block of Elberland Street, where he was shot. No weapon was recovered at the time.

Johnny Ray Richards, a 28-year-old Latino, was fatally wounded Monday, June 10, in the intersection of Gendel Drive and Altario Street in the South San Jose Hills neighborhood of the San Gabriel Valley, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.
About 10 a.m., a brown Cadillac pulled up to Richards’ vehicle, according to L.A. County coroner’s records. A person exited the vehicle and shot at Richards and a male Latino.
Richards then drove to the 18900 block of East Northam Street, across from a high school, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Richards died at the scene at 10:20 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
The other man was taken to a hospital where he was treated and released.

Christopher Luis Ramirez, a 18-year-old Latino male, died Sunday, Feb. 10, after being shot in South San Jose Hills, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Dennis Osorio, a 22-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Monday, Nov. 26, in the 18000 block of Villa Park Street in South San Jose Hills, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Police responding to reports of shots fired about 10:30 p.m. discovered Osorio with multiple gunshot wounds. At the time of the shooting there were no witnesses or suspects.
He was pronounced dead at the scene about 11 p.m., according to Ed Winter, the coroner’s spokesman.
The investigation is continuing.

Arlet Hernandez Contreras, a Latina, was pronounced dead Wednesday, April 25, in the 600 block of Alderton Avenue in South San Jose Hills, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

People were walking in the industrial area when they discovered the woman's body in the street.
Authorities were called and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emilio Borges, a 24-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Feb. 27, in the 17000 block of Boulay Street in South San Jose Hills, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Borges was driving away from a house party about 12:13 a.m., when an unknown assailant walked up to his car and shot him several times, said Det. Mike Valento of the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau.
Borges was taken to County-USC Medical Center and pronounced dead at 2:09 a.m., said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office.
Valento said there were witnesses to the shooting, but police do not have a suspect in custody. They are following several leads.

Walter Zomoza, a 19-year-old Latino, died of a gunshot wound to the neck on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, in the 19000 block of La Puente Road in West Covina, according to coroner's records.
Zomoza was shot at 3:15 p.m., and witnesses told deputies they saw a car with two people in it driving away after the scene, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department news release.
Police later found the car at a hospital, and one of the occupants had suffered a gunshot wound. The other person left the hospital before police arrived, officials said.
