John Anthony Decindis, a 76-year-old white male, died Saturday, Feb. 27, after sustaining blunt force trauma near 1515 Abbot Kinney Blvd. in Venice, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.
Pedro Ruiz, a 29-year-old Latino, was fatally beaten Sunday, July 21, near the 300 block of 5th Avenue in Venice, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 7:30 p.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Pacific Division responded to a call of an assault in progress, said LAPD Det. Dave Vinton.
Police said that four men were hanging out when they got into an argument and three of the men began beating Ruiz.
Ruiz was pronounced dead at 7:35 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Police arrested Juan Perez, a 26-year-old Latino, on suspicion of murder, Vinton said.
Perez has been charged with one count of murder with a gang allegation, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Two assailants have not yet been arrested.

Levell Maurice Harris, a 29-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, May 20, in the 1000 block of Fifth Avenue in Venice, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
About 3:30 p.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call of shots fired at Fifth Avenue and Broadway Street, according to a news release from the department.
Officers found Harris with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
Harris was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:44 p.m., according to coroner's records.
A witness told police that four men wearing hoodies left in a dark sedan north on Fifth Avenue.

Todd Gregory Hurlburt, a 53-year-old white man, was shot and killed by police Friday, Aug. 4, in the 800 block of Venice Boulevard in Venice, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Officers responded about 8:30 p.m. to a call to “keep the peace” and met a woman outside a home who said that Hurlburt, her boyfriend, was inside destroying her “personal property,” according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.
As officers walked into the home, they saw Hurlburt sitting in a chair across the room with his back to the officers with a rifle in his hand, according to a news release from the department.
“Mr. Hurlburt ignored verbal commands from the officers to drop the rifle,” according to a news release from Aug. 29. “He stood up and turned in their direction with the rifle,” prompting the police shooting, according to the news release. …
Marvin Ponce, a 37-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, Aug. 3, near 7th Avenue and Brooks Court in Venice, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 4 p.m., Ponce was directing traffic at a construction site when a masked man approached, aimed a revolver and opened fire, police said.
Ponce, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:18 p.m.
Co-workers at Right of Way -- a San Dimas company that provides traffic control for construction sites, film shoots and other events -- said Ponce was a cherished employee who left behind a 1-year-old daughter.
Ponce, a resident of San Fernando, had worked at the company for three years. The shooting happened on the company’s first day at the construction site in the Oakwood section of Venice, a neighborhood bounded by Lincoln and Abbot Kinney boulevards with a legacy of gang violence.

Nancy Ann Wright, an 85-year-old white woman, was found dead Wednesday, July 27, in the 1000 block of Palms Boulevard in Venice, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 7:30 a.m., a construction worker looked into a home’s backyard and saw a man hanging from a tree, said LAPD Det. Tyler Adams.
The man, identified as Charles Wright, an 83-year-old white man, also had a gunshot wound to the head, according to coroner’s records.
After discovering the man, police found Nancy Wright in a bedroom in the home with gunshot wounds. Nancy Wright was pronounced dead at 7:31 a.m. at the scene, according to coroner’s records.
Police believe that Charles Wright killed Nancy Wright, then hanged himself from a tree and shot himself.
Nancy Wright may have been suffering from dementia and having a difficult time with “day-to-day” activities, Adams said.

Mark Gonzalez, a 44-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Thursday, Jan. 28 near 7th and Flower avenues in Venice, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 8:15 p.m., Gonzalez was walking to a supermarket when he was confronted by a gunman and shot, said Los Angeles police Det. John Skaggs.
Police are trying to determine what prompted the confrontation. Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:24 p.m., according to coroner's records.
Skaggs said Gonzalez was a lifelong resident of the area.
The gunman is described as a Latino wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt. He is believed to have left the area in a tan small SUV east on Flower Avenue, Skaggs said.
Police are unsure whether one or two people were involved.

Christopher Thomas Rothschild-Cleveland, a 27-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Oct. 25, in the 400 block of Washington Boulevard in Marina Del Rey, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Rothschild-Cleveland was found in the parking lot of the Islands Restaurant about 3:40 a.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Holly Francisco.
The restaurant was closed at the time of the shooting, she said. Witnesses told deputies they heard gunshots and tried to perform CPR until paramedics arrived, Francisco said, but he was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:50 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to coroner's records.
Rothschild-Cleveland lived in Marina Del Rey, Francisco said, but investigators don't know what he was doing in the parking lot at that hour of the morning.
Investigators don't have any description of the person or persons responsible for the shooting.
