A story for every victim

Abraham Saldinas, 38

Abraham Saldinas, a 38-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Thursday, May 29, in the 7300 block of Fulton Avenue in Valley Glen, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 6 a.m., Saldinas got into an argument with another man, said Los Angeles Police Det. Richard Wheeler.

Saldinas got into his white Ford utility truck and rear-ended the other man’s van several times. The man armed himself with .45-caliber pistol and fired several rounds at Saldinas, Wheeler said.

Saldinas was pronounced dead at 6:22 a.m. at the scene, according to coroner’s records.

Detectives discovered that Saldinas had previously threatened the other man, identified at 53-year-old Richard Field, who is white, with a large construction crowbar. The two men were living in their cars and had been arguing over trash and a job that Saldinas was supposed to get for Field. Police arrested Field on suspicion of murder, but the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office declined to file charges, according to a spokesman.

Anyone with information is asked to call North Hollywood homicide detectives at (818) 623-4016. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
