Akeem Jamaal Coburn, 30

Akeem Jamaal Coburn, a 30-year-old Black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, July 29, in the 13600 block of South Vermont Avenue in Harbor Gateway, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

At 10:10 p.m., Coburn was standing in a driveway when a person walked up to him and began firing, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri. 

Coburn began running away and collapsed in the backyard of a home, police said.

Coburn was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:30 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Coburn was not a gang member and police are looking into the motive.
