Alejandro Diaz, 34

Alejandro Diaz, a 34-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Sunday, Sept. 4, in the 2800 block of The Mall Street in Boyle Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 1:10 a.m., Diaz was standing outside the Wyvernwood Garden Apartments when he was shot, said Los Angeles Police Det. Jose Ramirez.

A person walked up to Diaz and shot at him multiple times, Ramirez said. Residents reported hearing gunshots, prompting police and paramedics to respond.

Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:26 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

Detectives are looking for witnesses.
