Alfonso Enciso Jr., 19

Alfonso Enciso Jr., a 19-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Friday, Feb. 24, in the 800 block of Hyde Avenue in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Officers received a 911 call regarding gunshots in the 800 block of Collingswood Drive about 6:01 p.m., according to a Pomona Police Department news release.

While police were investigating, they received another call about a shooting in the 800 block of Hyde Avenue, a block away from the original call. When officials arrived at the scene, they discovered Enciso shot.

Paramedics were called and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the investigation, detectives learned Enciso was playing basketball when a person approached, words were exchanged and the victim was shot.

No one else was injured during the shooting, authorities said.

Investigators said Enciso was a documented gang-member, and the incident is believed to be gang-related.

The shooter was described as a Latino.
