Andres Nava-Salazar, 15

Andres James Nava-Salazar, a 15-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, July 11, in the 7200 block of South Broadway in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 8:40 p.m., Nava-Salazar and two others were walking on the east side of the sidewalk going north on South Broadway when a Latino on a bike rode up, said LAPD Det. Dave Garrido.

Police believe that Nava-Salazar and the person on the bike exchanged words, but are unsure what they said. The bicyclist pulled out a gun and shot Nava-Salazar, who was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead at 9:06 p.m., according to coroner's records.

Anyone with information is asked to call the LAPD Criminal Gang Homicide Division at (323) 786-5113. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
