Andrew LaVelle Price II, 36

Andrew LaVelle Price II, a 36-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, Nov. 30, in the 13200 block of South Wilkie Avenue in Gardena, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s records.

About 8:49 p.m., multiple people called the Gardena Police Department about gunshots heard in the area, according to a news release from the department.

Officers arrived and discovered Price, who had suffered a gunshot wound to the hip, police said.

Price was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:13 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Detectives said, based off a preliminary investigation, that Price was standing on the sidewalk with a group when two vehicles drove by one after the other and shot at the group, striking Price. 

The two suspect vehicles were described as a silver Lexus sedan and a dark-colored BMW.

Price, a father of three, grew up in the area and was visiting his parents over the holiday weekend, according to the Los Angeles Sentinel.

Price was a hip-hop artist who went by the name “Deviossi” and “Young Saprano” and was featured in a Mack 10 single called “The Testimony," the Sentinel reported.
