Angel Morales, 27

Angel Morales, a 27-year-old Latino, died Friday, Sept. 30, after he was shot in the 400 block of South Burlington Avenue in Westlake, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Rampart Division found Morales atop a makeshift carport in an alley at about 12:51 a.m., LAPD Det. Ray Martinez said. 

Residents called police because they heard noises coming from the area and suspected a burglar, Martinez said.

Morales was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:30 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
