A story for every victim

Anthony Lee Alexander, 26

Anthony Lee Alexander, a 26-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, May 14, in the 400 block of West Caldwell Street in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 5:18 p.m., Alexander rode his bike past a birthday party in the area several times, said Lt. Dave Coleman with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Investigators determined that Alexander said something to people in the area, and a person on the sidewalk shot him, Coleman said.

Alexander was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Investigators are trying to determine what exactly was said, Coleman said.

Alexander was one of four people killed in Compton that weekend, authorities said.
