Anthony Lopez Jr., 20

Anthony Lopez Jr., a 20-year-old Latino, died Monday, Jan. 13, after he was shot near Bromont Avenue and Fielding street in Pacoima, according to Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner's records.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Jan. 12, Lopez was driving a dark green Chevy Equinox in the area and may have stopped to talk to two or three people who were gathered, said Los Angeles Police Det. Al Arguelles.

An altercation occurred and Lopez was shot, police said.

Lopez then got back into his car and drove to the area of Foothill Boulevard and Vaughn Street.

Lopez honked his horn, got out of his car, said he was shot and took a couple steps before collapsing.

Lopez was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead the next morning at 7:43 a.m., according to coroner's records.

Police said the nature of the relationship between Lopez and the people he stopped to talk to is unknown.
