A story for every victim

Antonio Demetric Brown, 42

Antonio Demetric Brown, a 42-year-old Black man, was shot and killed Saturday, Aug. 1, in the 1200 block of West 47th Street in Vermont Square, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.

At 1:30 a.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Street Division responded to a call of a shooting with two victims, said LAPD Det. Dave Garrido.

When officers arrived, people directed them to the middle of Vermont Square Park where two men, including Brown, were suffering from gunshot wounds.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim was taken to a hospital, where he is expected to survive.

Investigators believe that a group of people were gathered at the park hanging out when two vehicles stopped at a nearby intersection. People got out of the vehicles and fired gunshots from a distance, then ran back into the vehicles.
