Antwan Johnson, 34 [Updated]

Antwan Johnson, a 34-year-old black man, died Thursday, Oct. 13, two days after he was stabbed in the 400 block of West Anaheim Street in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Johnson, of Rancho Cucamonga, was walking down the street with a female friend Oct. 11 about 8:05 p.m., when they were approached by three Latinos in their 20s, according to a Long Beach Police Department news release.

At that point, the unknown men attacked Johnson, and he was stabbed, officials said. The assailants then fled on foot.

Authorities were called, and the victim was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Two days later, Johnson died from his injuries and died at 4:15 a.m.

Investigators said they do not believe Johnson was a gang-member, however the incident is considered to be gang-related.
