Arthur William Cox, 55

Arthur William Cox, a 55-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, May 13, in the 9900 block of Cimarron Street in Gramercy Park, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s records.

Shortly after 6:30 p.m., Cox got into an argument with his adult son, who ended up pulling out a gun and shooting him, then turning the weapon on himself, Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Garrido said.

Police then responded to a call of a family dispute and found both the son and father with gunshot wounds. Cox was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:04 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

The son was identified as Kody Cox, a 27-year-old black man. His death was ruled a suicide by the coroner’s office.

Police are investigating what led Kody Cox to shoot his father.
