Aurora Ortiz Reynosa, 62

Aurora Ortiz Reynosa (2011-01-27)

Aurora Reynosa, a 62-year-old Latina, was found dead Thursday, Jan. 27, in the 3100 block of Shale Drive in Palmdale, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Reynosa's daughter had not heard from her mother for several days and became concerned about her welfare, said sheriff's homicide Det. Frank Salerno, who is handling the case.

She went to the home Jan. 27 and found her mother and father in their bedroom with gunshot wounds. Paramedics were called, and the couple was pronounced dead at the scene about 4:11 p.m., authorities said.

During the investigation, detectives concluded that Reynosa's husband shot her in the head before turning the gun on himself. He has been identified as Richard Reynosa, a 64-year-old Latino.

Salerno said no suicide note was found, but it's believed Richard Reynosa killed himself and his wife because they were both experiencing health problems. There was no history of domestic violence.

Anyone with additional details about the death of the Reynosas is asked to contact Det. Salerno at (323) 890-5500. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
