Billy Blount, a 35-year-old black man, was found dead Saturday, Sept. 1, near West 89th Street and South Grand Avenue in Broadway-Manchester, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 2 a.m., residents in the area heard what could have been gunshots, but no one called police, said Los Angeles police Det. Nathan Kouri.

At about 8 a.m., a person in the area spotted a green SUV with two people inside who appeared lifeless, Kouri said. Paramedics responded and discovered that Blount, along with Eric Jones, 34, had been shot.

The two men were pronounced dead at the scene at 8:15 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

It’s unknown if someone shot at the two men from the sidewalk or from a car. Neither Blount nor Jones were gang members. Detectives are seeking witnesses.

Note to Billy-

Everyday that goes by you are a thought, you are spoken of, your presences is missed dearly. We love going to visit your grave site just to put fresh flowers down. You let me know every time we would see each other and talk that you loved me and I was your world. You would always say that you would be here for me and our kids :( It hurts so much to know that you were taken from us. Going to Oceanside just brings back memories of your mom, your crazy sister, your nephews.... The world we once knew is no longer that. As I raise our son, I feel your spirit. You come in his dreams and he talks about you kissing him in them and some days just seem like there's a dark rain cloud no matter how nice of a day it is outside. I love that you left me with such a gift, It is the best thing you could have ever done for me.... You left me a part of you, "our son" his bday is April 18th and yours is April 19th. I miss that day when I was in labor and at the hospital as I was pushing you came in with the hospital food asking me if I wanted some and you made me so mad lol! You nearly got kicked out and had to throw away your food lol! We had some good times, some bad, but through it all one thing that we've always had was LOVE. That is why we named our son Cali Love because he was made from LOVE <3 I know we wasn't perfect and we had moved on but you still let me know that our love was untouchable and I know that and I feel that. I never thought of the day you would take your last breath. Time is one thing we can never get back and I have learned from you to NEVER take it for granted. Your life is celebrated everyday along with your father, your mother, and my best friend Angie Bee (who was also your best friend- your big sister) who have all past now-BUT WILL FOREVER BE CELEBRATED AND MISSED DEARLY <3

I’ve been reluctant to post anything in regards to the death of Billy. He was my son-in-law but I referred to him as my son and he called me mom. Billy was a wonderful person and he truly loved my grandson. It’s not right how he left this world so violently. I think of him daily and there’s another child left without a father due to gun violence. There’s a male child who no longer has his father. A father to teach him, to hold him. There’s a father missing when a child raises his hands to be lifted up. There’s a father missing when a child looks into the mirror and sees the reflection of who his father is. There’s a child crying in a field of sunflowers because he cannot find his father. He has looked everywhere and cannot find him. When an individual is murdered, he’s not the only victim. The loved ones who are left behind have to learn to how to cope. I love you son and you are truly missed. Rest In Power🦋

Bj my rider my heart my best friend I am truly heart broken I never ever would have thought that that Friday we spoke would be the last time we spoke we go back ten years and you never ever switched up on me you were the most loving caring person anyone I’ve ever met stayed laughing and smiling no matter what was thrown your way to know that someone took your life the way they did hurts me to my core and I am so so very sorry I pray that the person who did this is found and that the detectives do not give up on your case shadows of your smile will always remain you’ll forever be in my heart ❤️ foolie I love you to the moon and back and for a wonderful 10 years of friendship and loyalty may you Rest in love and in peace
