A story for every victim

Bladimire Alvarado, 30 [Updated]

Bladimire Alvarado, 30, a Latino man, was killed in a fistfight involving a roommate near 95th and Figueroa in South Los Angeles after 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, the second LAPD Southeast homicide in one weekend.

He and the roommate were fighting over making noise: One roommate was afraid the other would get them kicked out, said Det. Matt Mahoney. Alvarado was killed by a blow to the head. The roommate is in custody. Both victim and suspect were Salvadorans from the same town, he said.

[Updated Jan. 22, 2010: Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office, said Alvarado's death has been listed as undetermined. Winter said Alvarado's death has not been officially ruled a homicide because he was intoxicated at the time of his injury, which could have contributed to his death.]
