A story for every victim

Cameron James Trute, 32

Cameron Trute, a 32-year-old Latino, was stabbed to death Friday, Nov. 5, in the 14800 block of Gilmore Street in Van Nuys, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Officers responded to a stabbing call at 7:46 p.m., according to an LAPD news release. When authorities arrived, they were led to an apartment where they found Trute inside suffering from several stab wounds, officials said.

Paramedics were called and Trute was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries. According to coroner’s records, he was stabbed three times in the right side of his neck.

During the investigation, detectives learned that Trute was having a dispute with two possible gang members. While they were having their argument, the suspect(s) took out an unknown sharp object, stabbed Trute repeatedly and then left the scene.

Trute then managed to run to a friend’s apartment where he remained until paramedics came.

Detectives say that the two suspects were last seen running west on Gilmore Street and south on Kester Avenue. They are described only as Latinos in their teens.
