Carl Barry, a 59-year-old white man, died Monday, Jan. 16, in the 3600 block of McLaughlin Avenue in Mar Vista, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Barry was found dead in his bedroom at 11:48 a.m., said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.
According to preliminary coroner's records, Barry had an open fracture on his ankle and abrasions to several parts of his body.
Additionally, Barry had a history of depression, Winter said.
The coroner's office said a cause of death has been deferred pending additional lab tests. Results will not be available for at least six to eight weeks.
[Update Jan. 24, 2013: The coroner's office later determined that Barry died from idiopathic cardiomyopathy, and his death was ruled an accident.]
