Carl Frank Valverde Jr., 19

Carl Frank Valverde Jr., identified by the coroner's office as a 19-year-old white man, died Friday, Nov. 2, two days after he was shot near 13th Street and Grand Avenue in San Pedro, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Valverde was walking with his girlfriend Oct. 31 about 9:41 p.m. when unknown people walked up and shot him, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

The victim was shot in the head and taken to the hospital for treatment. Medical experts discovered there was no activity in Valverde's brain, and he was pronounced dead Nov. 2.
