Carlton Turner, 31

Carlton Turner, 31, a black man, was shot at 6611 S. Broadway in South-Central Los Angeles at about 5:45 p.m. July 22. He was taken to California Hospital, where he died at about 6:09 p.m.

Of the 19 police divisions that make up the LAPD, none has investigated more homicides this year than Newton Division. Turner's was the 32nd homicide death in Newton this year. LAPD 77th Street Division, the city's traditional homicide leader, has had 31 homicides within its divisional boundaries this year.
