A story for every victim

Christian Emanuel Lopez, 28

Christian Lopez, a 28-year-old Latino, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, after he was shot days earlier near South Grand Avenue and West 73rd Street in Florence, according to police and Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 26, 2016, Lopez was at a stoplight in his vehicle when a light-colored sedan pulled up beside him, said Los Angeles Police Det. Chris Barling.

A person inside asked him what gang he was from and began shooting, Barling said.

Lopez was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead eight days later, on Jan. 4.

The suspects were described as Latinos fleeing in a light-colored sedan, Barling said. Police are seeking additional suspect information.
