Christopher Max Padilla, 22

Christopher Max Padilla, a 22-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, April 14, in the 300 block of West Elm Street in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Padilla, of Huntington Park, was standing in the area when a vehicle drove up and stopped, said Lt. Steve Jauch with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. A person in the car shot Padilla multiple times, Jauch said. Padilla was pronounced dead at 9:36 a.m. by Compton Fire Department officials, said Ed Winter, a spokesman with the coroner’s office.

The vehicle then drove west on West Elm Street and out of view, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
