Christopher Nettles, a 30-year-old black man, was stabbed to death Sunday, April 1, in the 3300 block of West Rosecrans Avenue in Hawthorne, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

The slaying “appears to be gang-related,” said sheriff’s Sgt. Pauline Panis.

It occurred about 2:45 a.m. as Nettles was walking along the street and got into in an argument with another man, Panis said.

During the argument, a third man stabbed Nettles, who was taken by friends to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

There was no further information on the motive in the attack, she said.
