Ciara Grigsby, 20

Ciara Grigsby, a 20-year-old black woman, was shot and killed Wednesday, Nov. 18, in the 600 block of East 97th Street in Green Meadows, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m., Grigsby and a 57-year-old black man were walking east on East 97th Street when they came across two other people, said LAPD Det. Dave Garrido.

One of the men asked Grigsby and the man she was with what gang they were affiliated with, Garrido said.

One of the men then opened fire, hitting Grigsby. The man who was with Grigsby suffered a graze wound to his foot and was treated at the scene.

Grigsby was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 7:45 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
