Cindy Yaneth Lopez Vasquez, 28

Cindy Yaneth Lopez Vasquez, a 28-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Thursday, July 18, in the 900 block of North Oxford Avenue in East Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 2:20 p.m., officers responded to a call of a shooting in the area and found Lopez Vasquez suffering from gunshot wounds, said Los Angeles police Det. Dave Vinton.

Residents in the area heard shots and saw a light-colored SUV flee the scene, Vinton said.

Lopez Vasquez had just left her home when she was shot from behind. Police have ruled out robbery as a motive.

Family members told KABC-TV Channel 7 that Lopez Vasquez was studying criminal justice and wanted to become a lawyer.

Anyone with information is asked to call Vinton at (213) 382-9470. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
