A story for every victim

Claudia Janet Sanchez, 38

Claudia Janet Sanchez, a 38-year-old Latina, was fatally stabbed Friday, Dec. 4, in the 300 block of West 47th Place in South Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 1:30 p.m., Sanchez got into an argument with a man in a dark-colored pickup truck, said LAPD Det. Richard Arciniega. The man stabbed Sanchez, who then fell out of the truck and onto the ground, Arciniega said.

The man drove away in the vehicle, which was easily identifiable because it had a for-sale sign, Arciniega said.

A few days later, a woman called the LAPD because she said her husband had been talking about killing someone and had been acting strangely.

Feliciano Hernandez, a 51-year-old Latino, was arrested on suspicion of murder Dec. 7, police said. Investigators are still trying to determine the relationship between Hernandez and Sanchez.

Hernandez has been charged with one count of murder and is due in court for an arraignment Jan. 15, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
