Clint Andrew Smith, 28

Clint Smith, a 28-year-old black man, was shot and killed Thursday, May 13, in the 6300 block of South Brynhurst Avenue in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Smith and a female friend were standing in a courtyard about 6:15 p.m. when an unknown suspect approached and shot them, according to a LAPD news release.

The Los Angeles  Fire Department responded to the scene and took Smith and the female victim to a hospital.

Smith was pronounced dead at 7:10 p.m., according to coroner's records. The female was treated for her injuries and later released.

Although authorities had no description of the assailant, investigators said they believed the shooting was gang-related.
