Corey Daily, a 16-year-old black youth, was shot and killed Monday, Oct. 16, in the 1500 block of West Anaheim Street in Harbor City, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 6 p.m., Daily was in the courtyard of an apartment complex with a group when someone began shooting, striking him several times, according to a news release from LAPD. Daily was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:04 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Preliminary interviews indicate that the gunman walked up and fled on foot, said Los Angeles Police Det. Julie Scruggs.
Detectives are trying to determine the motive for the killing.
