Craig Lavern Metcalf, a 36-year-old black man, was fatally shot Sunday, Sept. 15, in the 1200 block of West Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard in Vermont Square, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.
Metcalf, of Arcadia, was visiting with a friend in the area about 1:30 a.m. when he was shot, said coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter.
Metcalf was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:30 a.m., Winter said.
Detectives are looking for witnesses, said LAPD Det. Supervisor Chris Barling.
