Cynthia Marie Cook, 48
Cynthia Marie Cook, a 48-year-old black woman, was found dead Saturday, July 5, in the 1100 block of West 87th Street in Westmont, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 10:30 a.m., the county fire department was in the area on an unrelated call when a person told the department there was a dead woman in a duplex, said Lt. Eddie Hernandez with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff's deputies and the fire department found Cook in her bedroom unresponsive, Hernandez said. Coroner’s investigators determined that she had been stabbed.
Cook was pronounced dead at 10:36 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
A witness in the area told authorities that Cook was last seen alive about 6 p.m. on July 4.
