A story for every victim

Dajon Lamar Daniels, 18

Dajon Daniels, an 18-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, June 26, near 56th Street and Chestnut Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired about 11:35 p.m. and found Daniels wounded and down on the street, according to a Long Beach Police Department news release.

The victim was taken to a hospital for his injuries but died less than an hour later.

During the investigation, authorities learned Daniels had just left a party at a nearby home when he got into a fight with a group of black men.

At some point, one of the men pulled out a gun and shot Daniels several times, officials said.

The gunman fled on foot after the shooting.

Authorities believe the shooting may have been gang-related.
