Daniel Moran, 17

Daniel Moran, 17, described as a Latino youth by police and a white youth by the coroner's office, was shot in a drive-by attack in the 1600 block of West 220th Street in Harbor Gateway about 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8.

Moran and a friend were talking when a silver vehicle pulled up next to them and someone inside fired several times in their direction, said Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department's media relations office. Moran was hit several times in the upper torso, Eisenman said. The vehicle sped off eastbound on 220th Street. Moran was taken by ambulance to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 1:55 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9.
