A story for every victim

Daniel Nunez, 32

Daniel Nunez (2017-03-06)

Daniel Nunez, a 32-year-old Latino, was shot and killed on Monday, March 6, in the 11800 block of Second Avenue in Lynwood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

A resident told investigators that he heard two men arguing about 7:30 p.m. and then heard gunfire, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Troy Ewing.

When the resident looked, he saw a Latino in his 20s running from the location.

Nunez was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:41 p.m.

Ewing said Nunez was a transient from Lynwood who didn't have his own home. "He was kind of couch surfing, and this was the place he was hanging out at the time," he said. Investigators believe Nunez was just standing outside the place where he was staying when he was shot.

Investigators have no other information about the shooting, Ewing said, and they hope other witnesses will come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
