Daniel Silva, an 18-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, March 12, in the 2900 block of Alsace Avenue in West Adams, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Silva was seated in a vehicle about 10:03 a.m. when an unknown person walked up and shot him, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he died less than 30 minutes later, records show.

Anyone with information about the killing can leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).

R.I.P Danny Boi “Monster”… Well this is still a situation that no one can believe, it’s hard. Danny u are missed by so many and your case has hit a lot of hearts. You’re gone but we will never forget you. Mansfield will never be the same. Remembering the days when you and all the kids in the neighborhood would be at my house fixing bikes, scooters, skateboards ect. hurt to remember but I can say that they are memories I will never forget. When I saw u again after a couple a years and you notice that I remembered you, you gave me a BIG smile (that smile you gave everyone) and said “Oh you remembered me”, cheers me up because I got to see that smile of yours before departing to a better place. I can still hear ur voice in my head. I miss u monsta. I dnt even know were to start. Many memories we had. Laughters n ur big ass smile. Thats all I see everyday. Ur big coolay smile. I can't believe how it happen. I can't understand y u n not both of u? But it wasn't ur fault or his for being their at the wrong place at the worng time. Y did god have to take u so soon? So young. what is wrong with our teenagers now a days. why is there so many teens getting kill..los angeles gangs are taking over our freedom they are so in control and powerful...if you are driving a nice car with sounds and good lookin wheels, you are riskin to get rub, shot or get kill. if you are wearing good lookin clothing or have the wrong colors( specialy red or blue) you are risking to get rob shot or get kill if you are in the wrong hood you will get kill...growing up i witness lots of crime to innocent people i went to lots of good friends funeral and i always ask myself self why, why did they had to die in such a criminal violence way..i guess i will never know the answer of that..i didn't know daniel silva or his family for what i have read he was a good happy loving person..i feel so much sadness that he was kill in such a violent way, that he didnt get a chance to celebrate his his 18th birthday,his 21st birthday, finish high school go to college get to met his future wife and kids and grandkids..all i know that he is in a better places smilin at jesus..my condolences goes out to his family...r.i.p daniel s

We grew up together and share so many great memories together... We consider you like our lil brother. We always played outside, our walks from school, run around the block or our houses, ride our bikes, skates and getting in trouble sometimes with our parents... I laugh at the silly things you, your brother, my niece and I used to do...You were so good at everything you would do from skateboarding to biking etc... You always had a smile in your face a smile that will always be in my heart. It still hurts till today that your no longer here with us, but one thing I know is that your watching over us now. And I know will meet once again. I miss you and its not the same anymore without you, but I know your in a better place. I LOVE YOU!!!! May God bless you and Rest in Paradise.

I think every gang member should be tarred and feathered, no matter what color or race they come from. Fighting, dying, killing, or going to prison over a turf that you will never own is so foolish. I tell my daughter all the time, even associating with them can get you killed.

I think JS's case caught the media's eye because of the illegal immigration issue. Had his killer been an American citizen, it would have been swept under the carpet just like the other 99% of Los Angeles murders.

Be mindful young people, you do not have to be active to find yourself looking down the barrel of a gun, these idiots are killing just for the sake of it, so if you dress like it, walk like it, talk like it, people will consider your it.

My best friend is a minister of the gospel, but wears a shaved head, and often puts his sunglasses behind head when he walks indoors, and he is hit up by both hispanic and black gang bangers. Its sad, but its reality.

Monster, I miss you soooo much. This neighborhood doesn't feel the same with out you. I was sitting on my porch hoping you would pass by on your bike but I know that hoping and wishing for that to happen isn't going to bring you back. I won't every see that beautiful cheerful smile of your, only in my memories and in pictures. The night before you got shot you were here at my house with me. You said you were hungry so you were going to go buy tacos, like always, but if I would have known what was going to happen to you the next morning I would have never let you go. I never expected that to be our last conversation, our last laughs, our last goodbye. You were such a great kid, I don't know why this had to happen to you. You deserved the best that life had to offer. Your laugh, your smile, your jokes, you over all will be missed by so many people that love you. Everything you did for everyone. You always tried to make everyone smile no matter what people thought about you. I wish you would have never gotten into that car that morning but like I said, wishing isn't going to change what happened or the fact that your gone. Now its time to face the fact that your gone and now your my angel. The angel that goes with me every where and keeps me strong through whatever it is I'm going through. I found out who Danny the day he was taken from this life. What I've gained in this past week is a whole lot of new little brothers and sisters who were around my neighborhood all along. They tell me Danny would have loved me and that truly gives me a good feeling.

So I wrote this poem for him:

Wow I can't believe it's true. I just saw u Friday night burning out in ur dads truck n that same day u were playing wit Tony. I remember when u were at my sis house at a party that we had. Everybody was drunk u couldn't stop trowing up. U throw up every were n I mean everywere. All the times we went crusin so the car shows, n to get some diablitos. You love those. You would always tell me let's go get some I got 5 on gas. We were going to go too this past week me u Jess n Tony. I can't believe this. Ur not here no more. My nigga since 7th grade we were 12 years old when we met, since that day we were unseperable! I still remember every morning at mount vernon we'd walk to wenchills or something. 8th grade we got even closer came out in quincianeras you introduced me to soooooo many people! We'd party together all the time! When it came down to amusement parks id say eff a date ill take my boy monster, your mom would make Us food before partying! I can hear your laugh n see your smile still. so many unique aspects that you had that I will not find on another soul! You're such a sweet n lovable person always happy a.f! I remember you coming to Winchell's for some donuts after the beach, All those times we would be active at the beach, with the little homies.
