Dany Josellito Carrillo-Ramos, 22

Dany Josellito Carrillo-Ramos, a 22-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, Aug. 4, in the 1500 block of East 103rd Street in Watts, according to Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner's records.

At 7:05 p.m., Carrillo-Ramos had just used the ATM at a bank and was walking back to his vehicle when he was approached by a man, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.

A brief struggle ensued between Carrillo-Ramos and the man that resulted in Carrillo-Ramos being shot, police said.

The gunman got into his own vehicle and attempted to flee but was intercepted, after a short pursuit, by police who were already in the area. 

The man, identified as Anthony Dajuan Hodge, a 25-year-old Black man, has been charged with one count each of murder, robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a loaded firearm, according to online court records.

Carrillo-Ramos worked two jobs to support his family, according to an online fundraiser. He leaves behind a 5-year-old daughter.
