A story for every victim

Darrell Lenerd Logan, 32

Darrell Logan, a 32-year-old black man, was shot and killed by a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy Thursday, Oct. 13, in the 3100 block of Heather Avenue in Palmdale, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Deputies late Thursday morning responded to a call that gunfire was coming from a house, officials said.

When deputies reached the home, they ordered people in the garage to come out, but the people refused, said Lt. Mary Leef.

Deputies then entered the garage and were confronted by Logan, who was armed, Leef said. Logan was shot and taken to a hospital, where he died. A handgun was recovered from the scene.

Leef said it was not clear if that was the weapon Logan used to confront deputies.

The deputy’s name is not being released pending an investigation, Leef said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the sheriff's homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (800) 222-8477.
