Darrien Barna Jackson Jr., 19

Darien Jackson Jr., a 19-year-old black man, was shot to deah Tuesday, Oct. 25, in the 900 block of West 40th Place in Vermont Square, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Jackson was standing on the front porch of a home about 8:15 p.m. when he was shot multiple times, said Los Angeles Police Det. Rick Gordon. 

It’s unknown whether there was more than one gunman, but police believe the shooter or shooters may have fled in a vehicle, Gordon said.

Jackson was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:38 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Police said that Jackson was not a gang member, but the shooters may have been.
