Darryl Avant, 45

Darryl Avant, a 45-year-old black man, was fatally shot Wednesday, Dec. 5, in the 900 block of East 120th Street in Green Meadows, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Avant was walking with his wife about 7:55 p.m. when a person approached and shot him, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

Authorities were called and Avant was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:29 p.m.
