Dayveon James Perkins, 23
Dayveon James Perkins, a 23-year-old black man, died Monday, May 26, of complications related to a shooting in February. Perkins was shot in the 300 block of West Adams Boulevard in Historic South-Central, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Perkins, who was also known as “DJ,” was at a party in the area on Feb. 7, Los Angeles Police Det. Kelle Baitx said in an e-mail. A fight broke out at the party and Perkins was shot in the abdomen and was taken to a hospital.
Perkins was pronounced dead at 9:28 p.m. on May 26, according to coroner’s records. He died of complications related to the abdomen injury, records show.
