Delay in updating the Homicide Report

The Homicide Report has not been updated since June 14, as many regular readers have undoubtedly noticed.

The Times relies on Los Angeles County coroner's officials to provide a list each week of deaths determined to be homicides. Typically, coroner's officials are able to produce the list on Monday mornings, however, scheduling conflicts have caused a delay this week.

Coroner's officials said Wednesday that they hope to be able to make the information available to the public as soon as possible.

In the meantime, updates about crime are available at "Crime and courts" and "Homicide Report" feeds.

Just ..... one of the great things about our states JC system is the multitude of classes that anyone can take, even if its just for "fun" or general knowledge.

The fact I took a class about coroners investigations doesnt make me qualified to be one. But it puts me a leg up on people who have never taken the class.

Thats why when there are issues regarding mistakes being made by the coroner, I look at it closely and wonder why it happened.

BTW, the class did include a "field trip" to the coroners office to see what they do down in the restricted areas. On that day, there were three dead gangsters awaiting autopsy (two dead from gunshots to the head and one stabbed to death). Plus one innocent victim from a gangster who felt violent one day and bashed in the head of his victim whom he chose at random.
