Demetrious Allyn Thomas, 29

Demetrious Thomas, a 29-year-old black man, was fatally shot Wednesday, May 3, in the 2700 block of West 141st Street in Gardena, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 11:30 a.m., Gardena police received a call about shots fired in the area, according to a police news release. Upon arriving, officers found Thomas suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:40 a.m., according to coroner’s records. 

Detectives later discovered that Thomas was shot while in a nearby alley. Witnesses said they heard Thomas arguing with another man. The other man then opened fire on Thomas, police said.
