Demond Tristan Jones, 28

Demond Tristan Jones, a 28-year-old black man, was stabbed to death Wednesday, Oct. 5, in the 1300 block of West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on the border of Vermont Square, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 2:20 a.m., Jones was on standing the southeast corner of West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Normandie Avenue when people pulled up in a dark-colored SUV, Los Angeles Police Det. Rick Gordon said.

It’s unclear whether a person got out of the vehicle, but shots were fired in Jones’ direction. The car then fled east on West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Gordon said.

Jones was pronounced dead at 2:43 a.m. at the scene, according to coroner’s records.
